The moment you arrive at Camps Bay Retreat, you’ll be entranced by the charm of the original Manor House that gives the estate its olden day charm. A grand entrance hall of marble and pillars welcomes you and invites your eyes to trail over its careful detailing.  With dramatic features such as high ceilings, oversized paintings, a baby grand piano, chandeliers and Turkish rugs, the manor’s interior instantly transports one to a previous era. A log fire is always burning in the cooler months and the entrance hall flows effortlessly out onto the terrace and the gardens.

There are two lounges leading off the entrance hall, one of which is more suited to a quiet read and could be referred to as a sun room, and the other, with its selections of DVD’s, books and cigars, is more of an entertainment lounge. Both have large armchairs, couches and fireplaces and offer guests the welcoming atmosphere of an old world family estate.

The dining room also leads off the entrance hall, and is where breakfast, lunches and dinners are served, mainly in winter, where a warm log fire keeps the cold from creeping in. The terrace is where most of our guests like to take their meals and in summers, nowhere in Cape Town could rival the mid summer nights romance hanging thick in the air over a candlelit dinner. Views are truly magical, with the ocean peeking through a frame of branches from the acres of trees reaching down to the bottom of the estate. Guests staying in the Manor House need only to walk upstairs to find their rooms and will surely be enraptured by their charming interiors.

This beautiful estate is Camps Bay's best kept secret; hidden in the crook of a glen, sheltered by trees and blessed with a desirable climate, making it a natural paradise.

Parking Guests are allocated security monitored parking on the premises, behind security gates. Parking is conveniently located close to the Manor House.

Pools Guests at The Camps Bay Retreat are treated to a solar heated pool at the Manor House, a cool pool at the Deck House and mountain pool in the gardens. Deck chairs surround the pools, with parasols for shade and beach towels are provided at the poolside. The mountain pool on the lower reaches of the gardens were created to appear as natural as possible, as though flowing out of the earth. The main pool is the size of a large swimming pool and has flowing water trickling into it, provided by a run off from the mountain.

Wine Cellar There is a wine cellar located at the entrance to the dining room that takes you down to a temperature controlled cellar. Specially selected wine partners feature on the menu, with wine suggestions to compliment cuisine and desserts more info

Cigar Lounge & Library With over 100 movies to choose from on DVD, glorious reads, a classic music selection, cigars and a crackling log fire, you may find yourself making excuses to stay in, every night!

Tennis Court The Camps Bay Retreat has one of the last remaining private tennis courts on the Atlantic Seaboard with great ocean views. There are competition standard flood lights for evening games. Reception will gladly assist with your court bookings and racquets and balls are available at reception. Camps Bay Retreat is proud to have joined the Mr. Price Sport initiative, whereby old tennis racquets are exchanged for new ones. In turn, the old racquets are donated to various charity organizations. The hotel now sports brand new Maxed racquets. more info

Yoga and Fitness Cabin There is a fitness cabin on the property, equipped with an exercise bike and free weights. Be inspired by spectacular ocean views as you boost your endorphin levels! Enquire at reception about booking a yoga or pilates session and enjoy practicing your asana’s within the privacy and nature of the retreat.

Hiking and Nature Trails Hiking trails start from The Glen, just outside the gates of The Camps Bay Retreat. Trails lead through to the forest, for a gentle amble, or for a more strenuous hike on Lion's Head. The famous Lion's Head Hike allows one to hike to the summit with the use of chains. There are breathtaking views over the ocean and the whole of Camps Bay. Enquire at reception about joining the full moon evening hikes and watch the sun set over the ocean, as the moon rises.

Squash Court Squash courts are available at the Camps Bay Sports Club of which Camps Bay Retreat is a member. Reception will gladly assist with your court bookings.
